In March 2019, the US Social Security Administration began issuing correspondences to employers regarding wages reported to the SSA in 2018 via employers' W-2 submissions. The SSA requested that employers address any mismatch that resulted if an employee's Social Security number differed from what the employer had reported. This process has sent a lot of uncertainty, confusion, and fear across many industries and many states. As soon as those letters went out, I started to receive a flood of calls from our members. And in response, we coordinated with our friends at the law firm of Smith Amundsen to help employers navigate what may have been a new process for some of you and was definitely a new format for everyone. And I also know that Smith Amundsen was inundated with calls from our members as well. So, due to the extremely high volume of calls and emails over the past few months, we decided to take an additional step and organize today's webinar.
